Nicolas Ghesquiere’s Resort 2012 Balenciaga collection is “longer than usual, and with more volume” (Ghesquiere). Models accessorized with visors walked the runway in “full umbrella skirts and voluptuous shorts (inspired by the famous Balenciaga client Mona von Bismarck’s gardening shorts)” (Fashionologie).

Ghesquiere goes print happy this season with red, silver, and turquoise, pairing sporty quilted jackets and menswear-inspired vests atop voluminous bottoms. The retro-futuristic vibe of the collection inspires a trend in atypical silhouette  layering but the visors may not catch on as quickly.
