Marc Jacobs Resort 2012 Handbag Collection
Ask me this time last year and I would’ve told you Marc Jacobs was on the top of my favorite designer’s list, but after seeing the Resort 2012 collection and the Resort 2012 handbag collection, I wonder if the Marc Jacobs’ reign is over?
As noted in the previous Marc Jacobs Resort 2012 blog entry, both the clothing and now the accessories collection lack cohesion. From muted pinks, browns, and reds to metallic and lace, the designer appears to have used any leftover scrap material. Had Marc Jacobs stuck to flourescent lace ipad cases, blood orange satchels, and metallic croc totes I would not be so critical, but the inclusion of less then impressive muted sachels is deserving of critique.
Maybe I expect too much from the CFDA Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award winner or maybe the award was the peak of his career?
