Lily Allen Unveils Debut Fashion Collection
Lily Allen and her sister, Sarah Owen, have unveiled their debut fashion collection after quitting the music business to start a vintage-clothing store together. The collection of classic retro pieces goes under the store’s name, Lucy in Disguise and pays homage to all the decades: seventies jumpsuits, twenties flapper dresses, thirties tea dresses, forties embroidered maxis, and fifties full-skirts.
When discussing the inspiration behind the duo’s collection, the once music sensation remarked, “after we’d launched the shop, I think we both felt that we wanted to create vintage styles with more contemporary, clean lines. Sometimes with vintage clothes the femininity can get lost – the market didn’t feel quite perfect, so that’s what we’ve worked on. I’ve always been into vintage – before I became a pop star it was all I ever wore.”
Allen told Vogue UK, “We’re now working on collection four. This line is all about Lucy In Disguise the character. It’s very eclectic. The next few collections become more concentrated and more based on set themes with clear hero pieces. Each piece really stands on its own.”
Lucy in Disguise will be available at Shopbop and lucyindisguiselondon.com, priced from $175 to $630, come June.
